Why Are So Many Celebrities Getting Divorced?

Divorce12

When celebrities get divorced, is it really a shock? Maybe for some fans. Many truly believe their favorite stars will stay together forever. Then there are those who couldn’t care less if a celebrity gets divorced and actually expect it to happen.

But when multiple high-profile celebrities get divorced at roughly the same time, it often raises eyebrows. Why are so many people calling it quits all of a sudden? Is there something in the air or water? Is there a divorce season?

Typically, divorces do increase in March and August, right after the winter and summer seasons. This is likely because holidays and vacations can be very stressful, and any discontent in the marriage only makes matters worse. The vacations and holidays do not help the marriage; instead, they pause the routine and give couples time to reflect on how the marriage is going.

So the wave of divorces that Hollywood has seen during the summer of 2023 isn’t really all that shocking in the grand scheme of things, based on statistics. Still, many high-profile stars have filed for divorce in the past few months, causing fans to wonder and worry.

Probably the biggest shocker was the Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner split. Other recent Hollywood divorces include Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez, Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara, and Britney Spears and Sam Asghari. Actress Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson from “Dawson’s Creek” fame recently divorced after one child and just four years of marriage.

Causes for Divorce Among Celebrities

Celebrities are not your average people. They do not work typical 9-5 jobs like ordinary people. They may have to travel to other states and countries for months at a time.

The pressure of having your career exploding on top of a rigorous filming schedule can make a rocky marriage even harder. Also, divorce can be contagious, so that could be a reason why there are peaks in divorce over time.

Many lawyers are not surprised by celebrity divorces. All relationships are vulnerable to some degree and this is even more so for celebrities. They face a lot of pressures as well as worship from adoring fans. Plus, the demands of always being “on” can take their toll on a celebrity.

Also, celebrities are generally pretty frequent divorcers because they have the means to do so. They have money, unlike many of the average American couples, who are only staying together because they cannot afford to divorce. A lot of celebrities can divorce and comfortably walk away without too much financial difficulty.
